Ingrid Newkirk, the founder of PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) is without a doubt, one of my most favorite people in the world! I’m serious. Don’t let her soft British accent kid you. She is one bad ass! Ingrid recently released a book, Animalkind, written with accomplished writer Gene Stone, no slouch himself.
Remarkable Discoveries About Animals
In the last few decades, a wealth of new information has emerged about who animals are—intelligent, aware, and empathetic. Studies show that animals are astounding beings with intelligence, emotions, intricate communications networks, and myriad abilities. In Animalkind, Ingrid Gene present these findings in a concise and awe-inspiring way, detailing a range of surprising discoveries: that geese fall in love and stay with a partner for life, that fish “sing” underwater, and that elephants use their trunks to send subsonic signals, alerting other herds to danger miles away.
Animalkind, Truly Inspiring
Humanity’s survival depends upon our learning to depend on animals of all other species. The second law of ecology is the law of interdependence. Without bees, phytoplankton, worms and trees we cannot live: Without dogs, cats, horses, elephants and penguins we cannot be truly happy. Ingrid Newkirk and Gene Stone have done a wonderful service to us all. Their book is truly inspiring.
– CAPTAIN PAUL WATSON, CEO and founder of Sea Shepherd Ocean Conservation Society
I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Captain Paul Watson in person. I also found him to be a super cool dude.
Animalkind is a Definite Read
If you love animals, people and our planet, please get the book. It’s a great gift. It’s written casually and with heart. My “purpose” as a vegan interior designer, is to show others that no living being, human and non, need suffer for beautiful furniture. In conclusion, Animalkind, gives us further insight into non-humans and how alike we are. It will hopefully make you rethink buying animal based products. Animalkind is a definite read.
